Skin care is an ongoing journey. The skin that you have now is a result of the way you treated your skin for the past 10 years. And if you’ve been on your skin care journey for any length of time, you know that results are not immediate.
Sometimes we can let our skin care falter and lose the motivation that once inspired us to commit to clear, healthy and glowing skin. When times like these come up it is important to have strategies that help you stay consistent with your skin care routine.
In this blog post, we will be sharing 4 ways to help you stay consistent with your skin care routine.
1. Approach your skin care as a journey
It takes 28 days for you to see results from your skin care routine. In this time your skin will experience a range of ups and downs, good days and bad.
You may have days where your confidence is as glowing as your skin, and others where you doubt if you’ll ever be able to reach the skin goals you’ve been dreaming of.
The goal is to experience the ups and downs as part of the adventure to flawless skin.
Even the most perfect skin will see bad days, so it’s best not to beat you or your skin up, and find ways to enjoy the journey.
Sometimes we don’t need to buy the latest skin care products, but just learn to reinvent your skin care routine and practice patience. But buying another serum never made anyone’s skin sad. 😉
2. Find ways to inspire yourself and goals
Like going to the gym and having to keep up with a good work out routine, we need need to find ways to inspire us and stay consistent with our goals so we feel motivated every morning to wake up and keep our skin in the best condition.
Finding ways to keep yourself on top of your game is the key to staying consistent to your skin care routine.
Things like vision (or Pinterest) boards will help you constantly stay inspired and may even teach you about what it takes to reach your goals.
Another way to stay inspired is to list 10 things that flawless skin will give you. Perhaps more confidence, a sense of accomplishment, a personal health goal, or even as a symbol of your idea of beauty in the world. All these things, if you continually remind yourself, will help you stay consistent with your skin care routine.
3. Keep a before and after journal
This doesn’t have to be something you share publically, but if you just have a place to look at pics of your in the past you can find the inspiration to keep on moving.
You may even find the inspiration a way to help others in the future by sharing your before and after photos. Most influencers are influencing other people by sharing their stories with others.
What seems impossible to someone, can seem within reach when we share our journies. As long as you keep on your path to healthy glowing skin, other people will find you as an inspiration.
This journal can also document what products you use. The more you know about what your face likes, the easier it is to pick the right products for you. This is definitely next level, and will often make you a skin care pro in no time.
4. Find a community of enthusiasts to share your journey
A famous motivational speaker once said:
You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.Jim Rohn
This means that it is important to surround yourself with people that believe in your dreams and goals as much as you do
They can be best friends, family or even a support group. Even investing in meaningful time spent with a dermatologist or esthetician is a priceless contribution to your goals of youthful and healthy skin.
But sometimes we don’t have people immediately around that mirror our greatest aspirations, so we have to be creative. Finding a community online is just as powerful as in person.
Do you have friends on Instagram or Facebook that you usually engage with? There is a strong skin care community online that will help you stay inspired and may even encourage you to share your journey with others.
Look at each of your empty bottles as notches on your belt towards healthy skin, and keep on glowing friends!
